Dr. Michelle Allmendinger
With more than 20 years of leadership experience in higher education, Dr. Allmendinger is a passionate advocate for students, leading numerous initiatives to increase student retention and completion.
She has distinguished herself as a leader committed to advancing student success through strategic initiatives that expand access, improve retention and completion, and removing barriers to educational attainment. Throughout her career, she has championed opportunities for first-generation students, underserved communities and adult learners.
A native of Moline, Illinois, Dr. Allmendinger is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Knox College, where she was a first-generation college student, McNair Scholar, and two-sport athlete who earned double majors in English and Secondary Education. She holds a master’s degree in human kinetics, concentrated in sport sociology and sport psychology, from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Michigan State University.
Her leadership experience spans athletics, academic affairs and student affairs, with a proven record of fostering student achievement, institutional growth and community engagement throughout her career. In addition to administrative experience, she also has a background in college teaching.
Dr. Allmendinger most recently served as vice president of Student Affairs at Southeastern Community College, in Burlington, Iowa.
The longevity of Delta’s executive leadership is a point of pride for the institution. In the 65 years of its existence, °µÍø³Ô¹Ï has only had six presidents. Each have successfully positioned Delta as a model for community colleges across the nation.
Dr. Allmendinger began as °µÍø³Ô¹Ï’s sixth president in June 2026.
